Engineer/Specialist (Gijinkoku)
Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services
A residence status used for occupations related to a major studied at university or vocational school—engineers, accountants, marketing, interpreter/translator, sales. Since April 2026, Category 3/4 employers must submit proof of B2-level ability in the working language for roles centered on interpersonal work.

Type 1 & Type 2
A residence status used in 19 fields with severe labor shortages (three fields were added by a January 2026 Cabinet decision)—nursing care, construction, food service, lodging, manufacturing, logistics. Type 1 is up to 5 years cumulative; Type 2 is renewable with family eligible. Support is usually outsourced to a registered support organization (not needed if you provide support in-house).

Effective April 1, 2027
A new residence status taking effect on April 1, 2027 as the successor to the Technical Intern Training program. Designed to develop unskilled foreign workers to skilled level in up to 3 years and connect to Specified Skilled Worker Type 1. Permission applications for supervising support organizations have already begun.

Education, experience and income are scored; 70 points qualifies. Five-year stay and permanent residence in as little as one year.

Entertainment / Sports invitation
A residence status for foreign nationals engaged in entertainment activities—actors, singers, dancers, athletes, models. The inviting company or organization is the applicant. We have experience inviting professional sports teams.

Residence statuses for specific circumstances—bringing in assignees from overseas headquarters/subsidiaries (Intra-Company Transfer), skilled workers such as foreign-cuisine chefs (Skilled Labor), Medical Services, Researcher, Professor, Instructor, etc.

We hear about your company's business, target occupations, and candidate information, and convey the applicable residence statuses and approval prospects. The first 60-minute consultation is free (Google Meet).
Document preparation & application
We prepare employment contracts, reason letters, and corporate certification documents, and create application documents for Certificate of Eligibility (COE), status change, or period extension.
Review response
If Immigration requests additional materials, we handle hearings and document preparation on your behalf. We report on the situation during the review period as needed.
Approval
We support receipt of the approval notice, residence card pickup procedures, and notifications at the time of joining the company.

This work requires calculating points and designing the supporting evidence for each item, so we handle it on a flat fee, separate from the three plans above.

In case of denial
In the unlikely event of a denial, we rewrite the reason letter and handle re-application free of charge. We also accept hearings on the reason for denial (inquiries to Immigration).

- 2. Application documents are based on information provided by the client
- 3. No false statements or omissions of important information
- 4. For simultaneous applications of multiple people, judged on a per-person basis
- 5. Out-of-pocket costs (government fees, etc.) are required separately for re-application

Q. Are there discounts when hiring multiple people simultaneously?+
A. Progressive discounts are available for simultaneous applications of 5 or more people. For large-scale hiring of 10 or more people, please consult on unit prices separately. Joining a retainer agreement qualifies you for application fee discounts (discount rate is custom quoted).
Q. How long does the review take?+
A. It varies widely by residence status and type of application. For Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services, the national averages published by the Immigration Services Agency (permissions granted in July 2026) are 49.8 days for a COE, 72.9 days for a change of status and 40.8 days for an extension. It also varies by region, season, and case complexity. Published figures are shown on each visa page, and accurate estimates are provided per case.
Q. What about fees in case of denial?+
A. If a case we filed is denied, we rewrite the reason letter and handle one re-application free of charge, limited to one per applicant and residence status (excluding the Light plan; conditions specified in the pricing page and contract). If you or another office filed the case that was denied, re-application through us is +¥27,500.
Q. We are based in Chiba—can you serve companies in other regions?+
A. Residence status applications can be handled online, so we accept requests from companies nationwide. Meetings are held via Google Meet.
